Challenge: Battle Of The Sexes (Advanced Editing V)
Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D
Location: England
Date: Jan 14, 2007
Date Uploaded: Jan 14, 2007

In camera overlay of 2 RAW files converted to B&W high contrast ans sharpened (maybe too much?). I like the feel of this image a lot and for that reason I submitted. I'm sure it will get bashed by the voters, but to me, the battle of the sexes is fought within, the way we think, the way we feel, so for that reason also I feel this image reflects the Battle perfectly.

WOW!!! Thank you all very much, I never expected to get a ribbon. Some great comments, We took around 100 shots before we got a good line-up, you should see some of the ones that got away, monster city, great fun to do, Im still learning about the camera features and how to use them properly.

Only just saw this - this f**king rocks MAK! The ribbon is nice but seriously, this is one of those 'above ribboning' shots. Innovative, wickedly executed and maximum impact. I don't think the contrast is overdone at all...very stylish. Kickass work dude...

Marac, this image has it all. It succeeds at a level far beyond the usual DPC "look", conveying its message with incredible intensity. You've transcended the challenge and created "art" using the theme as a springboard. For what it's worth, I have no quarrel with the double-exposure issue; I'm well aware of how much work went into making this one work :-)

Congrats on a great image Marac...I would have to say I think it was right on the border as far as being in the rules, but if it's legal, then it's legal, and a worthy ribbon winner...perfect execution

You followed the rules as set for the challenge. I really can't understand why people complain. You clearly show patience. Great job.

Congrat´s Marac, the two of you will obviously make very beautiful babies, just make sure they are not split down the middle like this though, hehehehe :)

I pm'd SC a couple of weeks ago and they said the rule "create your entry from a single capture" takes precedence over the "you may" section of anything in camera. I had a similar idea and since I am a new D200 owner was looking forward to this feature as well. Bummer.

Very striking as well as technically brilliant, i would be very interested to see how this was done? I'm guessing kind of double exposure with part covered lens? It's a great potrait even without that element so i think you'll do very well

That looks very unusual. It kind of hurts my brain if I stare at it. Well executed. I feel that a bit less beard on the woman's side would have helped to impart the concept a bit more effectively. The ear gets more attention than it deserves because it is so bright. (Unless your message is that we should listen to each other more.) At first I didn't like this image but it has kept me looking at it and thinking longer than any other image I've ever seen on this site. This one is right up with the winners for me.
