Day 3 of 30 SPs in 2007

As you no doubt guessed, there was a lot of PP on this shot. Nothing new from me, but... HA! I just don't go for the conventional approach most of the time.

In this shot, I was specifically going for the "old Hollywood" type of shot. Although usually in B/W, I wanted to use muted earth tones to create an aged and/or "softly painted" effect.

For those of you wondering, PP included: added directional spotlight effect (used overhead bedroom light and lamp to my right), draganizer action, midnight sepia action, dodge/burn brush, gaussian blur, sharpen, save for Web.

What? Straight out of the camera? No way! :-P Your editing rocks the house, Jimmy! I'm not seeing old hollywood here - but I do see hollywood - like an 80's movie poster or VHS tape cover. ...oh, I guess that would be old. :)

I really like what you did here. I have yet to get the draganizer action down well.

I know the look you are going for and I think you have done a great job re-creating it. I love that old Hollywood look. Fantastic!

There's a picture of my grandmother when she was quite young that looks very much like this (without the beard :P)... It was taken some time in the twenties, and looks very much like a Hollywood glamour shot. Back then hand painting on the finished print was common. This is very reminiscent of that picture for me, being very soft and painterly. Cool job.

I really like this! The tones are wonderful and the feel is gritty, yet tender. The eyes are amazing. Perhaps "take a little off the top" and the intensity would be even more pronounced. I feel it's a little too much space up there. (What the heck do I know, lol!!)

I really like the processing; the colors and tones are excellent. If it were me (and I'm not nearly that good looking), I'd crop the top down a bit, make it nearly a square crop.

I like it. Feels like I could reach out and wipe some earth off of your skin, and your hair has an extremely soft look to it.

Pensive. That is the word that comes to mind. This is beautiful! The softness of your hair and the bright eyes... Grrrrrreat!

a little too processed for me (the additional dodging gives it a little bit of a 'wavy' feel, i guess) - BUT! i do like the pose; makes me wonder whats on your mind, whether something is really bothering you or if there's a bird pooping on somebody & your just thinking "huh...poor bastard"

still lovin yer work though (comp, color, etc.)
