Taken the same time as I shot my Superstitions & Urban Legends II entry last year, well actually a couple of minutes after midnight so it´s in the 28th of June and not the 27th.

Obviously Aldís again. Lit the same way as the superstition entry, with a single bowens monolight and a 75° softlite reflector but this time I boosted the power of the monolight quite a bit, thus deliberately underexposing the backround a whole lot to get it shifted into three areas not equally dark, the sky, a mountain in the back and the ground. The mountain you see there is Akrafjall, a very prominent mountain for the west of Iceland and the time this was taken (well she still is till this spring) she was "Miss West Iceland" so I thought it fit symbolically for this shot.

Post processing just normal raw stuff, b/w conversion with channel mixer, some healing brush, curves, dodge/burn and finally sharpened after resizing.

This is my favorite portrait I took last year along with my "Magic & Mystery" photo, I really dig both shot´s, hope you do too.

Beautiful shot Larus, I gave it a 9, just cause I wanted there to be less hair over her right eye, other than that, lighting composition and sharpness are perfect like always. Awesome shot bro.

Looks like a Larus shot. And if you're not Larus, that's a compliment. Nice work.

Like how the lighting is only on her with the dark background. Her eyes stand out very well.

Wow.
Strong image, i love the pose and the hair, and the composition with the mountain (?) in the background perfectly backing her.
The lighting is also great with the strong dodge drawing focus towards the eyes, her best feature.

Very powerful black & white image.
Quite a story being told just from these pixels - well done!

The PP borders on being a little harsh for my taste; never-the-less, I really like the look, and think this should be hanging on someone's wall.

There's something haunting about this image that captures me every time I come across it, though I can't quite figure out what it is. Maybe a combination of the windblown hair and the model's expression ... whatever it is, i like it. 9.

OOOh - this is really neat. Great darkness. Great clean eroticism. Cut off the right 1/3, make it a square, blow it up and you've got a ten.

Back to comment. Great eyes and I love the contrast. The "painted on" cleavage look is a little strange :) Very nice image. 8

Definitely very nice. The eyes stand out well, her left eye being skillfully party-hidden-but-not-really-by-the-hair. The hair, at time dark and at time light work really well too. The pose could seem a bit static, fully frontal like that, but I find it consistent with the darkish tone of the picture and her neutral face. Gives it kind of an unnatural feel.

What I like a bit less are: (i) the background, a bit too "dull" and (ii) the lighting/composition on the breast&arms.

I like the artistic vision and lighting on this shot. I just think you lightened and sharpened the eyes a bit to much.

Great high contrast, texture, intensity of gaze... all popping out thanks to the great dark background which while abstract still implies the mountainous landscape. 9

Compelling imagery with beautiful lighting. Background is distracting as is the dichotomy of dirty skin and $300 haircut. Gorgeous model, though!
