So it's that darn rock again. But I haven't been able to shoot it for the last three months since I've been away at college. I was awesome to come back and shoot one sunset, submit two shots of it, and score 8th and 3rd. Just goes to show that this is a beautiful place (and I’m so fortunate to call it home).
Other shots from this sunset:

How this was taken:
When I was down at this sunset, I was thinking that it would be cool to get a shot of a photographer with a tripod for this challenge. Problem was, I was the only photographer with a tripod down there, and I only had one tripod. Sacrificing the bottom of my camera bag, I set it down in the sand, set my camera on top of it carefully, set manual focus and self timer, and ran out in front of the my camera with the tripod, posed like I was taking a photo (similar to the pose in this picture) and waited to hear the shutter snap. It only took me three tries to get on I liked and I continued photographing the rest of the sunset. It must have looked funny to other people along the beach to see a photographer hovering over a tripod that had no camera on it.

Again you bring me back to my Ecola days and the Rock! Blessings be multiplied to you. You are always striving for the perfect image; no wonder the Rock -- as we strive for the image of the Rock of our Salvation. Hallelujah!
And study hard so you can do more good work and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Maranatha, Laura R.

Damned beach... Damned kids... Go back to school! And this from someone who flew 3000 miles and stole your bedroom so he could shoot the same beach. But at least I had a different POV :-) Congrats on your ribbon!

Well, I probably won't be back here until May, so you won't see any more of my shots around this place until then =).

You take absolutely breathtaking pictures. This image is amazing. Color tones, silhouette, foreground looks like you are walking on water. Lovely images as well in the comment section. I wish I was close enough to this location to take pictures like these. Beautiful, really love them.

All that being said, I am really tired of seeing this location in so many challenges. You are so talented...can you drive somewhere else or hide the big rock? I love the blue toned picture above and it does not wear me out because it does not look like the same old rock again and again and the blue color evokes an almost eerie moodiness.

edit: finish a couple sentences.

I do love Canon Beach, so. My grandparents own a cabin in Manzanita/Neah-kah-nie that I've been privy to for the last 29 years.

The shot is very nice, but I'd like to see more of the area. The strength is that you (or the model) do appear to be standing on water. Strong work.

Nice idea, and also a pretty photo. But your camera and tripod gets lost in the silhouette of your body, so it loses the message it's trying to convey.

This is nice. I really like the large structor on the right side. It balances the image out nicely and really allows your eye to draw to the light. Nicely done.
