 This is my first challenge entry. The day was cold and rainy, just following a rare snowfall. The only light was coming through a few holes in the forest cover.

Thanks to all the voters on my first submission. I guess we all feel disappointed when something we really like doesn't score highly, but many of the comments were good. I appreciate them and it's incentive to improve.

This is a great shot, wonderful color contrasts and very effective composition - fantasitic job. I didn't vote in this comp but would have given it a high score.

What a great pic. The first & only time i´ve seen such a good "clear on focus" pic. of a dead leaf. Have seen a lot these leafs here in Iceland but never had the skill or the imagination to capture it like this...

This was under-rated IMO, as the type those who vote quickly would miss the subtle tones and minimalist appeal. My kinda shot...look forward to many more this interesting to come!

this is my first time looking at your work and this photo caught my full attention right away! simple and elegant. you have made a "boring" subject have character and interest and elegance. very well done. I was very surprised to see that this shot came in at 209th! I really think that this shouldve came in the top 10 atleast....just a warning, I will be keeping a close eye on your work...got a new fav, thanks

Didn't have time to comment during the voting, but I gave this a 7. It definitely deserved a higher score, IMO. The colors are wonderful!

Man, I really like this! The color tones are so beautiful and I love how the lighting spotlights the crumpled up leaf! Boy these dpc'ers are harsh critics, aren't they! I think this is tons better than 5.6!

Very artistic, like the background. The only thing I could think one could do to improve this, to shine a soft tourch or spotlight to your leaf, to show a bit more detail. give you a 6
