Challenge: Pattern II (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Lens: Promaster 28-210mm F/4.2-6.5 Aspherical for Canon
Location: Clifton Mills, Ohio
Date: Dec 20, 2006
Aperture: 2.6
ISO: Auto
Shutter: 1/60
Galleries: Snapshot, Architecture
Date Uploaded: Dec 22, 2006

Taken at Clifton Mills, Ohio light display.
The only editing I did was to crop to get to the proper submission size and to use the digital camera noise removal feature of Corel Paint shop pro XI. In terms of setup at the photo spot, I simply let the camera act as point and shoot so the image is blurred considering it is handheld and at 1/60 shutter speed.

They are extremely out of focus for me, and there is no real pattern for me to see, it looks very chaotic.

this picture kind of makes me wish you could vote in the negative

Christmas lights are hard to shoot (guessing there was no tripod - or if there was - it was a windy night.)

WAY Fuzzy!
12/31/2006 07:35:26 PM
A bit blurry and out of focus, not a bad idea though.

this is a good idea, but the exectuion needs a little more. it's very grainy, and while with sme images that works very well, it doesn't here. the focus isn't as sharp as it could be. this really needs a tripod to work well. the jpeg artifacts around the lights don't help either.

it is a good composition, and well spotted. a pass through noise reduction may help. also, amke sure sure you're shooting with your camera on full resolution.

keep shooting!

Abstract patterns, a little noisy but cool

When taking a photo, always think what you are trying to tell us. 4

not a fan of the streaks. I like the idea though.

Hand shake?
12/29/2006 01:27:47 AM
Looks out of focus...
12/29/2006 12:47:55 AM
I like the pattern, but it looks like the camera moved causing the blur.

poor focus. are these christmas lights? i can't quite tell.
12/28/2006 03:44:53 PM
Too blurry for my taste.
12/28/2006 10:19:01 AM
it isn't steady.
12/28/2006 09:18:04 AM

12/27/2006 07:54:08 PM
Too much noise and not enough focus.
12/27/2006 07:16:02 PM
I don't see a focus point.
12/27/2006 05:35:31 PM
Too OOF for my liking

The idea looks interisting, but the execution is noisy and off focus, unless that's what you were looking for, but doesn't work much for me...
12/27/2006 10:51:17 AM
Photo is completely out of focus.
12/27/2006 10:05:30 AM
I like the use of lights as pattern, but it seems out of focus and blurred.
12/27/2006 03:42:45 AM
i hope you got a tripod for christmas. too much camera shake
12/27/2006 01:58:53 AM
Try using a tripod next time for long exposures so the picture won't be so blurry. Also noise level is very high.
12/27/2006 12:50:23 AM
Way out of focus.
12/27/2006 12:38:37 AM
Is it raining? Hard to keep still during a longer exposure. Or was it the lights moving? I notice they do not blur in the same direction.
