Gordon, I love this shot. The colors are beautiful, and the lighting is wonderful. I think the slant _makes_ the picture. Great job.

hmm....OK, I am guessing these are diamond earrings? Not very clear from the photo....And being on a slant does not help.

Good composition. Exposure is a little hot, generating some chromatic aberration
on the edges of the highlights. Very good overall.

To me this looks a bit too weird. It looks like the rings are falling down the table. Strange balance.
Other than that I like the red vs. metallic color. DOF is a bit too narrow.

excellent image... the lighting here works very well.. I also think that this is perfect use of DOF. The brushed metal detail is showing through nicely... looks like a great advertisement photo :) - jmsetzler

Took me awhile to tell exactly what I was looking at here. I'm still not 100% sure, but looks like ear rings? I get the point of them being a birthday present making them new, but was there a box they came in? The bottom of the photo is pretty fuzzy. This could have been minimalized with a vertical shot rather than a diagnal shot. The glare from the lighting source is a little much, could you have bounced the flash? I know it's not possible to do that with my camera, so I can relate to exaggerated reflection. Something that I found that helped out my photos is to take the photo outside and use a thin white canopy between the sun and the subject. Or if the photo is taken indoors, put a thin tissue paper or cheesecloth between the light source and the subject. I even got a desirable result from taping a thin piece of white cloth directly onto the flash on my camera. Seemed to spread the light out a bit and make it less reflective in the photo. I liked the idea behind this photo very much and gave it above average rating. Great job and good luck in the challenge.

Technically superb shot; it really looks expensive, lighting works…

Beautiful lighting, good background, and nice smooth texture.

Personally, the angle doesn't enhance the photo. The photo is well done without it. I especially like the back lighting you did so well. crisa58

Are those magnet toys?

This is one where I like the limited DOF. I find that the tilt is interestng but the items are just a little too far over to the left in the frame for my preference. Like the texture of metal against leather/ leatherette whatever it is and the limited colour palette.

Birthday presents? Someone is very lucky! Really like the diagonal perspective and that color. Nice job. :)

I like the subject being set off to one side, but I expect them to slide out of the photo.

Lovelt use of DoF and tilting the camera - would make a great product shot.

Amazing DOF and composition. My favorite so far!

do you think a little more depth of feild could have made a better shot?
08/12/2002 03:14:00 PM
I really like this, though i can't hardly tell you why. Maybe it is the simplicity of the colors. Don't know. Great job! karmat
