to tee tah who commented "...I really don't like to see the challenge name (new) used as part of the title. Be creative, get out your thesaurus!"
I used it because it rhymed and I thought it was cute. If I was going to simply use the challenge name I would have called it "Something New" at the Zoo.

Thanks for all of the comments - both good and....not so good. ha
But to Rocco22, I had a couple with the baby alone, but I liked the contrast in size to the mother in this shot so I went with this one.
Thanks again everyone!

Slightly overdriven, but excellent theme.

Good composition. You had a good vantage point to take this. I know because I was at my local zoo and trying to get a good shot is difficult due to the distance away from you and the animal subject. Not to mention the pillars, barricades, etc, etc. that will mess up a good pic.

excellent shot... This works nicely for the 'new' challenge.. I love the detail in this shot... great work :) - jmsetzler

Meets the challenge, although the image is a bit pedestrian... 5 sjgleah... guess what i don't like is the trite composition.

Oh, this is cute! Although I really don't like to see the challenge name (new) used as part of the title. Be creative, get out your thesaurus! I do like the picture though, I like everything about it. Good detail, color, balance, etc.

sweet...I love animal pics and that gains points in my book. One little thing I would have tried to do differently is get rid of the wall in the upper right by slightly changing the perspective. The trees in the back make a nice backdrop. Still very nice! If you like zoos check out this website www.wcs.org Nice work, good luck. Grayce...aka...Gracious

oh my. The thumbnail of this photo looked fine, but when it was blown up to the big picture, I can barely tell they are elephants. I have tried for the last 2 days, thinking it may be a server problem, and I tried refreshing it over and over, thinking that maybe the file was just freaking out, but I'm still having the same results on the large version of this one, so I'm going to judge the thumbnail. I can't see in great detail, however the photo looks good. Would have been really cool if you could have gotten them in a location where you couldn't really tell they were in a zoo. (I know, elephants don't cooperate with strangers very well :). anyway, it's a very nice photo. wish I could have gotten a clear large version. I'll keep trying.

Adorable little elephant. It's cliché but not so cliché since it's not a human. Good take on the obvious.

Cool! Just one anal-retentive comment. It looks to me like the large elephant is in sharp focus, while the baby is ever-so-slightly blurred. Given that the subject of the challenge is "new," I would have tried to capture the baby more in focus.

Gets my oooh vote :-) Good shot too...

Sweet; meets challenge, not too 'cliche'.

Better with just the "new" elefant rate it 2
