My son and daughter helped me with this shot. My daughter was the one who sat there while my son dumped dirt on her head. My daughter is a real trooper. My son had way too much fun dumping dirt on his sisters head. Well I am still trying to learn photoshop so I can come up with some gorgeous photos. I love this shot but I feel the color is not quite right. I tried. Well the following is my post-processing steps.
Color Noise Reduction in Camera Raw
Color Correction using Curves
Auto Color
Fade Auto Color 66%
Saturation +18
Smart Sharpen (twice)
resize for web
Smart Sharpen
Save
I hope to get some comments on how I could have improved this shot. I took in in the morning in the shade. I unfortunately had a high iso setting.

POST: For the record I knew this shot was lacking but after putting my daughter through this I had to at least enter. I was hoping someone would volunteer to try and post process this photo to see how they could salvage the shot then let me know step by step how they improved it. I figure that is one way for me to learn photoshop. Thanks to everyone who took the time to look, vote and comment.

Did you use the flash for this? It could use quite a bit more light on the subjects to both stop the action and to make the subject 'fit in' with the brightness of the background.

Good composition and expression. I'd like to see a contrast boost on the face and hair on this one, i think that would make it GREAT.

Nor can I! A bit random, but I like random.

There has to be some sort of story besides just doing it for a picture. This photos is really lacking any reason and is very flat. Perhaps a teasing sibling or a bully would put this in a better context?

She has my sympathy, but I like it. It's only clean fun, afterwards. I would've cropped from the right past the tree. New fad-hairdoo in the making.

I'm compelled to ask... Why? The only purpose for this to happen is to meet the challenge. A technically perfect image with no meaning does not make a good photograph. It's been my experience that when I draw a blank on something to submit for a challenge, I simply do not enter. - 3

The title seems about right. It does show the " Dirt Reaction Reflex " well.

Funny, shap focus and nice DOF! Great expression. What a little trouper! Did this start a dirt fight??

The face appears a little dark on my monitor compared to the brighter background. Maybe a bit more light on the face and/or have it angled up slightly to brighten it and show more of her face, although it's understandable why it's tilted down. :)

The title is a bit too self-aware. I would have liked to seen the shots after instead of one which looks like a "making of my real dirt shot" shot. 4
