I think the placement of the buildings and the mountain line is a great compositional move; I also think that the "dirty" window filter works. I do however, think that a distraction is the horizontal wires. This has such a great composition and feel that you might want to try photoshopping out the wires.
Again, really nice shot!

Gee, I was pretty close about the "dirt filter". I actually was wondering how you got that effect, thanks for telling.

Hi from the Critique Club!

At first glance, I kind-of like this image. It has a strong daguerreotype feeling to it.

Compositionally, its okay. The tower's slant is bothering me a little and messing up the flow of the photograph.

The exposure is obviously underexposed, but with the title I can see that is what you were going for (which doesn't make it a good or bad thing, it's what the artist is offering, if others "get it" or not it doesn't matter).

I think the voters were a little thrown by the unconventional display here. I think some of them were looking for "dirt" in the literal sense.

Overall, good job -- the feeling here was conveyed successfully (to me).

I really like the colors on this - maybe a tad lighter would score this higher but personally I like this dark look. good luck - 9

Don't like the textures that appear to have been added to the sky.

I like the bizarre, almost nuclear winter lighting- very electric

i don't like the texture of it-not sure if that was on purpose or not

The pole on the left and the power lines make this look tilted. The lines may have to be in the photo, but the pole could have been cropped out. It's not a really good composition, though -- too cluttered. I don't care for the lighting. That could be personal opinion. Your sky does have a look that matches the title.

I like your photo. I hope your not getting to much grief about it not being 'dirt' in the literal sense. Great job!

Cheers for a novel approach to the subject. Is this a fisheye shot? A solid 8.

painterly, with gorgeous muted colors. Not sure if I like the tilt. 8

Dirt Filter! I've been wanting one for Christmas! (like a polarizer, except it gives this effect)
Except for the vehicles, this looks like a pic taken in a coal mining town in the 1930's. Gritty looking place with the subdued light.

I'm not sure how this effect was achieved, but it doesn't add to the quality of the image, IMHO. The shot is severely underexposed, and the colors are very odd. Sorry!
