This was taken using 2 of my lenses - the Sigma 24-135mm zoom to the camera body & the Pentax f1.4 inverted as a diopter on the end of the Sigma using a reversing ring.

Yet another last minute entry, hope I don't regret entering...

It must be pretty bad when you find yourself hoping to break the 5.0 barrier on a challenge - I just squeaked by on this one.

Here's my alternate for this challenge:

Awww, fudge! Just when I thought I couldn't do worst than my last entry...

I still think it is an interesting macro - I was trying to make something that looked like a sun since the elements that exist inside every living thing once existed in the belly of a star (go ahead, look it up, we're all made of stardust) - hence, "The Origins of Life".

Once I took the shot, I thought it looked like planet, or an egg, or a petri dish... - figured even if people didn't get MY impression they might just have the imagination to make their own!

Hmmm, I am trying to guess: a microscopic image of a human egg? But then a 3/4 halo around it, the whole thing in blue against black, like the planet earth in the universe. Am not quite sure what I am looking at here. Still, I like the composition and colour combination.

clever title...good abstract, not sure what it is, but it works OK

Nice color. Would work wekk as an abstract with a softer focus.

I am guessing this is a petri dish or something like that. Nice color but the image lacks any other real interest for me.

I know what this is, but most people wouldn't have a clue without the title.

Interesting digi-scoping. I don't really see any clear/ specific subject in the view though

What is it? It looks like a scratched-up blue light bulb.
