This cross was erected where a young man lost his life if a car accident about three years ago, I met his family a short time after the accident and know CJ was an especially close friend to his dad who along with his family miss him very much.

Very poignant and beautifully photographed, but so saddening.

It's the light and shadow that really make this work for me. 7

anything else than photographic appeal apart, I suggest moving the cross to the right (left centered composition looks usually unbalanced), setting minus exposition so that there would be some detail on the cross and possibly zooming out

The shadow of the cross on the snow produces a nice effect and I like the level of saturation here. (I don't understand why people want to "memorialize" the site where a loved one was killed.)

Ahh that shadow is brilliant! I would almost say that shadow is your picture right there, imo! The two white roses, miniture scare crow, and the shadow of the cross burned in the patch of snow. That says it all to me, but that's just my opinion. As emotive as this image is, I find the actual written words a little unneccessary and slightly distracting, technically speaking of course. Well done though!

looks like a snapshot. maybe a different angle or changing it to B&W might have help. I like it that is homemade.
