The juxtaposition of the old rusty barn with one new piece of tin in the early evening light really inspired me.

this photo probably would've done better in the something old challange

Good idea, but your composition doesn't excite me.

Do appreciate that newness is relative to it's context.

Excellent thematic contrast. Overall lighting is a little low. I might have cropped down to just tin.

Peek a boo! I think I see you! Is that your shadow down there coming out of the left corner? Ah, who cares. This photo cracked me up anyway. Reminds me of my house. We have all this old siding and then last winter, a really bad storm damaged one of the siding pieces and it was replaced with an uncolored (ready to paint) piece. So our house is a 15 year old tan color and has this ONE gray stripe. lol. I absolutely love this picture. Great eye for the something new. Good luck with the challenge.

I love rust, love the old feel of this shack. Maybe a tad bit dark at the bottom and the right. Also the sky is a bit blah. Over all I like it and your on target for the subject. Score-7 Kee

I "get" your new, but parts of it don't look very new, maybe newer would have been a more appriate title. The new panel is rusted, but not as bad. The shaded area behind the barn is very dark, so is the grass. 6 Swash

i must admit, my first thought, was, "how in the heck does that have to do with new." It took me a minute, maybe because such scenes are so familiar to me, that i don't even notice the new sheets anymore! I like how there are three bands of horizontal color, and that you are close enough to see detail, but still include a broader context. I like this picture, but i imagine you will catch grief this week. karmat

I love this! It captures the subject of the challenge perfectly!

this was for last week... sorry.

This was the sort of picture that I imagined might be original for this challenge. The contrast of the old and new materials along with the golden sunlight is powerful.

The idea is good here. It might have been more effective to be a little closer to better show the difference in texture between the old and the new metal. Shooting more from the corner, using more of the fence---it has nice lines perpendicular to the building siding and less of the grass might enhance the effort.
