 This mask is on sale in one of the booths at the Wiesbaden Christmas market. I took a shot on Friday evening, then decided I wanted it from the other side, which entailed shooting through glass and avoiding reflections. Once I got in position to avoid most of the reflected lights overhead, I had to wait for the crowd to go by to block the light from the booth across the way. Fortunately it was wall to wall people so that wasn't a long wait.

I have no idea what the move GoldenEye is about - I've not seen any Bond films. But the title provided the inspiration and I love masks, so there you have it.

Post - cloned out a couple of small spots on the cloth (probably reflections); duplicated the layer and changed blending mode to soft light, then reduced opacity; curves; slight adjustment in exposure; sharpen, resize, save for web. Worked from the in-camera jpeg even though I do have the RAW file - don't ask me why.

Wow - this is gorgeous. I love the gold tones and shadows. Gives it that mysterious carnivale feel.

I am not a bond fan - I generally lose interest after 5 minutes or so -and I don't think I've seen that one, but on its own merit, this is a truly beautiful shot.

Lovely lighting on the mask and nice lines via folds in the cloth. Didn't think it necessarily fit the Bond challenge too well, but like it a lot on its own merit.

How do you get those round numbers? I gave this a 6. I thought it was a very pretty shot with great lighting, but no special quirk to move me. I bet if you had set up the props yourself it would have had that little something that makes all the difference. But as I've said, congratulations on not using a tuxedo or a gun or a Martini, for that matter.

A big round 6, and it should have been more (I went for 9). I love the colors, the folds of the scarf, and the light. And the crop is perfect. 21st place!

Incredible. Everytime I look at it, I'm blown away by the gorgeous golden light. Stunning. Excellent excellent work on this. Best wishes for the challenge, I'd be very surprised if this wasn't scoring highly :)
