pretty neat

Excellent floral. Did the sharpness of the fuzz on the leaf get softened during the resampling?

Clever title! ;-) Composition is good. The curve makes the photo interesting. Lighting is not so good. Did you use a flash? There is glare on the leaf. I also don't like the background. One party grey, one part black.

The gorgeous colours work really well against the stark black background.

nice composition, good macro shot

this is really neat. I like how it come into the photo, but doesn't leave. I'm thinking I see that rule of thirds applied here. (I'm fairly new to that concept, so I've been looking for what I think applies to the RO3's) This is very visually appealing. I asked my mother (who knows a lot about flowers than me) and she said that she thought it was a hibiscus? which only opens in the day time. That even adds another dimention of the something new concept. Great shot and good luck with the challenge.

Nice study of a flower about to bloom. A beautiful but unusual choice of blossoms... I guess we all mostly work with what we have at hand. Taking the flower out if it's "natural" state lets you focus absolutely on the color, texture, and overall beauty. The dark background works well, but I find the big blank area in the upper right a bit distracting. I keep thinking something should be, but I don't know how you would fill this and keep the pure and uncluttered look you achieved. This is one to be proud of... not "just another flower picture"!

I promised myself I'd comment on all photos which I scored >=5 but I am a little stuck on this one. I know I am definite about my rating of it - I rate photos to my own internal plan (1 means this, 2 means this) but also against each other. I just don't know why I don't like this more/ less than I do. I will come back to it and try and be more useful if I can. Apologies for my lack of anything useful (though for all I know all my comments are useless and no help at all!).

Your lighting seems very harsh, if you are using your cameras flash maybe you could try using an alternate light source and a levels adjustment in photo shop or similar may help to remove the background.

very nice...good composition and lighting. It has depth with the subtle leaves in the background. Would have liked it better if the whole background was black.

Very dramatic. Maybe a bit over sharpened?? Nice shot. 9 Spiller

an all black background could have done a little more for the shot maybe?

To bad the background shows up. Maybe us a dark cloth in the future.

The lighting on the plant is terrific. The slightly grainy "strip" along the top of the photo is very distracting to me, and keeps this from being an absolutely perfect shot. The sensual curves of the plant make the composition wonderful. lhall

Really nice. Good composition with the diagonal. Lovely colors. Nice texture

nice color, but you could have used different lighting other than camera flash
