Not sure if this is diagonal enough, but the voters will let me know soon enough : ) Also decided to go the opposite of the saturated colour thing. I like it for this shot, we'll see if anyone else does too. Oh, used a Circ Polarizing filter which gave the gradient to the sky.

Nothing fancy in the processing dept.

then a copy of the first levels with reduced opacity about 50%
curves
hue/sat under a channel mixer layer for B/W conversion
then reduced opacity of channel mixer layer to about 75%
and the hue/sat to about 85%. That's how I got the desaturated look.
Another curves on top of that.

I think that's it!

This slight desat combined with the polarizer is really creative. It gives a unique feel and quality to the photo. Like on a blazingly hot day when a hint of coolness is first felt in the air.

The somber tone and earthy feel of the fence is amazing. The darkness of the clouds leads you to expect some kind of release from built up energy that was building all day. Great shot!

OMG!!! You went to my hometown. I spent the best years of my life on a farm on Old Coast Road, Harvey. Who is it that you know down there?

This is so weird...!

Very strong compositon, perfet desat and awesome sky. I think you are right about your outtake, that it is not diagonal enough, but I have to say I like that one more as a photograph. In this particular challenge, this is as good as it gets. Congrats!

Well, making pictures like this you shouldn't be out of work. This is quite beautiful, even though it looks sort of surreal. Good diagonal feel to the image, even with the straight horizon. ~8

I like the colors of the sky and the image, but I don't understand the title - Is the fence out of owrk because it doesn't function or is the land/farm out of work??

I love the contrast and the desaturated color in this one. I love the dramatic texture change between the foreground and the sky. Good Eye!

Plus: Nice choice of diagonals and great backdrop for it too, especially how the end of the diag.'s lead to the sky.
Minus: Not much really!
Score: 9
