My initial impression was 7. Now after viewing it again I think it is better. The dark background combined with the intense blur of the leaves in the background and the focus directly on the Hibiscus bloom creates an impressive photo. Thrule of thirds is interesting also. When I first open the picture up my eye is drawn to the tip of the bud and then it travels to the lower left cross section. Upon further examination I am giving this a 10. syamjonimi

It wasn't until recently that my mother explained to me that hibiscus only open in the day time. I think that's neat. this is a nice shot with the black background and the actual flower being the only thing in sharp focus. lighting is great. not much color though. not your fault, but it's a little too green for me to hang on my wall in the house. doesn't mean it's not a good photo though. definately depicts something new. good luck in the challenge.

A very nice flower shot. You're trying to fit the challenge, so you usually don't see shots like this. Good job.

This is a beautiful shot. I like the shadows, but it does seem just a tad dark. Very nice with the three stages of the flower's blooming cycle. In most cases, I do like having items blurred in the foreground, in this case, maybe it's just a little too big of an area of blur. Still this is wonderful and fully deserve at least a 9. Swash

Nice, a little too dark and too monochromatic for me.

Lovely composition...like the green and dark interplay.

Nice macro. Great focus and lighting. I like the background It's not just a bunch of bushes, that distracts from the subject. The black background helps you focus on the buds.

Could be a bit brighter, but beautiful.

Its too dark and too green for me. I need a dash of colour to liven this up.
