Hi Mom! i think you did a great job on this shot. the composition is perfect, and the lighting effect is very well done. I have noticed in a couple of photos of yours in dark conditions that you get a yellow cast... I don't know if you camera has a white balance adjustment, but you may want to check into that. I think your teddy bear photo has some yellow cast to it as well.
All in all, you did a great job, but the image has some camera limitations affecting it (white balance and grain or noise in dark images). I like pcody's idea to shoot this with the light reflection making a halo at her head! Well done!

(edit) I just noticed that your ISO was 320 for this shot. Try to set it lower if your camera will let you and it will minimize the noise/grain. It will also require a longer shutter speed, but you were already at 1/2 second, so I assume you used a tripod or other stable surface for the camera.

| The idea is good. The light on the wall might have been more dramatic if it was moved more toward her head to form a halo. I think it would be more pleasing if there was less noise. |

| I was very curious when I saw this in the thumbnails, and I find it even more interesting once opened fully. I enjoy this image - the composition is unique, I find an odd juxtoposition with my perception, in that the fairy looks more concrete and real while the crystal has the mystical and fantasy aura to it. I think that and the technical execution is why the image captures my attention so much. Nice. 7 |

| Nice use of thirds, I think the tightness of the crop helps a lot. Unfortuantely the image looks a little noisy, I guess because you had to keep the room fairly dark to cast a reasonable ring of light. Reducing the ISO may help (if you didn't already) and also using a wider aperture. |
