I can understand what you are going with here. And it does meet the challenge. Overall a good picture.
You have a good story here but because the man's arm, the neon signs and the sign at the top are all cut off, I have to fill in all the pieces. That takes away from my enjoyment of the picture.

i like everything about this except for the fact that his elbow/arm is cropped off.

Nice image. I like the 'everyday' aspect of the photo. Should appeal generally. The lighting is good. The focus looks as if it could be a little bit sharper on the person. Would've preferred that than the sharp brickwork. Solid work. 6

There is something very lonely looking about this man - the expression, the cheap-looking grocery, the worn brick, the folded hands. Nice.

I think that cropping the $1.00 sign at the top would have strengthened the image for me, otherwise it is very powerful, nice clarity, light, hands and arms are good, expression is very fine 7
