I thought this a great shot in all respects...lighting,color,shadows, and theme.

Thanks for the comments!

It's a normal brown chickenegg. From a "Barnevelder" chicken(dutch race). Most eggs sold in Holland are brown.
the egg stands on a paperclip.
Top light= TL
Front/left light= Videolamp (battery almost empty, so that's why it looks so orange) held in my left hand.
Background= plain A4 sheet i took from my printer.

Pretty colors. How did you get the egg to stand on end?

Needs to be sharper, but your composition is spot on. Lighting is good too.

I love most of the colors in this one. I would have eliminated more blue light to make for a more monochromatic composition, and maybe turned the light up a notch to produce more distinct shadows.

Nice shot, well taken. I have to ask, what kind of egg? Your lighting suggests you have altered the color a little, but still this can't be a "regular" white egg. I do like your choice of lighting and background. Simple and nice. Score raised from 7 to 8. Swash

Excellent lighting! The connection between an egg and new life is certainly present. I love the simplicity of this photo and it was well executed.

Inventive, to the point, and a great example of 'less is best' Technically fine, but slightly soft focus put me off a little… Great shot nonetheless…

good colors

I'm more familiar with white eggs, but this one could have used a light source from a top angle...

I really like this one. The lighting is great and the use of the brown egg is unique.

really nice colors, lighting.

I particularily like this cause it's standing up and you can't see what's making it stand up. I'm not quite sure if you have 2 light sources there, or if there is a shadow, and a reflection. I think it's a reflection, and I think that it would be a very powerful egg if it were just standing there by its self with no reflection. I've never photographed an egg, so I don't know the difficulty involved in removing that reflection, so if it can't be avoided, I still like it. Good job and good luck.

I would've liked to see this one in b&w. It's such a minimal photo with great lighting and no distractions that I think minimizing the tones would emphasize your approach even more.
And maybe shooting it horizontally to get the entire shadow in might've been interesting as well.

I really like the lighting on this...but the egg is a bit off centered but then I guess you'd be missing some shadow...

Love the color and the lighting. Good shot. 9 Spiller

Interesting topic... but the realization does not help in my oppinion.

Nice but I want to see the egg and all it's shadow or just the egg centred. This feels lopsided to me. Also, the highlight on the egg seems too orangey compared with the rest of the egg shell - is contrast set high?
