This is my first try at a real self portrait. It's definitely a different experience and I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of reception it gets.

Shot RAW with the camera lying in the dental chair.
Manual focus, manual exposure, available light.
If I had time to reshoot this I think I would have used the 20mm lens and either a reflector or fill light from the chair.

Ok, let me say that this gives me the chills...as I HATE going to the dentist. HOWEVER, my husband and I are both in the medical field, so I definitely am feeling this photo. I like the different angle, and even the darkness of it. You can definitely feel like you are the patient in this photo. Good job!

Unique Portrait. I think the selective coloring takes away from the "portrait" aspect, but I like what it conveys.

Hey, whatch out the needle, Doc! It's going to drop on the lens...
Definitely a different facet of self... I'd like to see your face less blurred.

Very effective. The first thing my eye was drawn to was the needle, but it did not take much at all to see the "self-portraitness" of the photo.

I wonder how many legally blind people who visit dpc aren't even going to be able to figure out what this is. This scares me the more I look at it.

I was actually going to shoot a very similar shot with my loupes, facemask, and a drill instead of the anesthetic. Our labs were locked for the evening though, so I went with a different shot. I really like this though. Excellent composition and subject. I feel like maybe the light threw off your metering and you are a little underexposed, but not majorly. Good luck.
