When trying to think of a way to capture myself, i had to think of what my true character is. I'm a fairly serious person, but i really like to cut up and have fun. the backwards hat was my way of portraying the fun, youthful side of me, but the darkness showing my serious side, which can get me in trouble sometimes. i hope you like it.

shot w/ my new background set and alienbee umbrella/strobe unit

Greetings from the Critique Club: I have been assigned your photo to critique and here are my thoughts:

Personal Reaction: I liked this a lot and it was helpful to see your comments on the photo. With the backwards cap and your bare chest and shoulders, it looks a bit like a swim team photo.

Composition: Good composition; eyes just below center line; face offset; negative space around your head. All these elements seem to work well.

Technicals: Hard to find fault with much. There is a slight halo beside your ear but it’s a minor minor thing. Focus on the eyes is very good.

Conclusions: You were trying for a “whimsical intensity” and you nailed it. Good job!

As always, this is my personal opinion. Feel free to PM me if you’d like further dialog.

Cool! I like the intense look and the light in your eyes. But what puts it over the top for me are the freckles. :-)

Is 1977 the year you were born in? If so, cool element to use in the photo.

I like this. The light color of the eyes stands out well. I'm glad you did not go the route of removing all color in the picture except the eyes.

Wonderful. The best in the group. I'd try slightly lighter and more contrasty skin tones, but like it as is. Beautiful work on the eyes. Love the hat.

Love your freckles. It seems just a touch OOF on your face, and more sharp on the embroidery of the hat. I might play with contrast or levels a smidge, but I like the earnestness of it. 7

That would make you 29. Really nice processing on this. Great focus on the eyes. A bit soft yet bullyish.
