I love this shot...and know this store...it is an amazing place to go into...the stories from a man who's father once owned it, and now he sits in the middle of the store waiting for customer's to come in...
keep pushing it...a portrait that includes the environment is always appealing to me...the secret is whether of not you get a sense of the person from the shot..and with thsi you most certainly do!

I love these voyeuristic glimpses into other people's lives. And what stock in the shop. Some of those styles must have been there for years.

to me, the subject has to be "camera aware" for it to be considered a portrait ...

I wonder if there could have been a better angle to take this shot from. The door frame right in the middle breaks this into two images and loses some of it's story line. Maybe further to your right, shooting through the window?
