Couldn't sleep so I woke my husband up and we drove out to the beach with one of the dogs. It was incredibly windy and freezing. Tonka was thrilled to be out with us so early and she went nuts running around us in circles. The sky was incredibly dark with clouds and the ocean was foaming with whitecaps. The wind was actually blowing us off our feet as you can see from Stu's stance. The birds were also getting blown around as they flew. We only were able to tolerate the wind and cold for a couple of minutes. I had to set my camera to 400 ISO to get any decent captures, thus the grain. EV -1.3.

I converted to B&W,dodged some highlights at 10%, resized and added a border.

Wonderful feeling of joy in this picture (from the dog's exuberance). Your hubby, despite definitely looking cold, seems to be enjoying the dog's antics as well. Neat shot!!

Moody sky, but the shot is a bit darker than I think I would prefer...we lose some of the detail in the figure and dog.

haha yeah this is deff a british beach. Looks like a storm is brewing. and its little thing and i know it would have been impossible but its sa shame tht the dog was blured becasue it was running around.

There is something about this photo that makes it seem far afield of the "DPC look." It takes a while to warm up to it, but there is a powerful interplay between man and dog that is easy to find attractive.

Quite a moody type of image that works...

I love in-the-moment captures like this...to me, it's what photography should be about instead of the processed-to-the-gills, saturated studio shots that seem so unreal. Beautiful. :)

man and dog. This is just so man and dog. man and dog belong together. this picture almost makes me cry. I'll start this at 9 and see if it goes up from there.

Fun movement. I might do a selective color adjustment and remove some of the gray(black) tones in the white Or possibly just adjust the contrast.
