 Photographer’s Notes
When I took this photo I was traveling in Peru. It was taken in a market in Lima. Overall the market was pretty dark and, trying to remain as unobtrusive as possible carrying a D200, I was not using a flash. I had been taking a lot of photos of Peruvian people to try to capture something of their every day appearance and culture and felt this was representative. I liked the way the dark background isolated the mother & child and the basket gave a little working context.
Very little was required by way of post processing other than to reduce the grain resulting from ISO 1600. I did burn the background slightly to make it less distracting. The subject was the mother and child and I wanted attention focused there.
