I gave you 10 and chose this as a favorite. It made me sad that so many young people DO wake up to this every morning. I hope that even though it looks hopeless, sometimes we can view it another way and make something positive out of it. I too, think this should have scored WAY higher.
Great shot and wonderful idea. You made 'em think, and that's all we ask for....

I think this should have scored higher, very interesting concepts.. really makes on think. I liked the harsh look of it because it compliments what the photo is trying to convey. Great job! 1 of my 2 top 10 picks!

That's thought provoking!! And so young. Photographically I'm sure you intended the grainy look to your face to be as if you were in print as well but, I'd have liked it better without so much noise. 8

This is why I don't start my day with either the TV, radio, or newspaper.

Too much noise in the photo for my taste. Had to come back to this one and it is due a bump up in score as it is insightful.

Nice grainy atmosphere. I like the pessimism here, seems very appropriate.

this is a great take on the challenge, and excellent execution. I like the grain adding to the gritty nature of his world. I hope my fellow voters agree - but have little faith they will. This is very creative and insightful - 8

Good idea but not subtle enough. Leaves nothing to the imagination.

A troubled world indeed, the grain in this image works perfectly with the subject...a thought provoking photo, well done.

this is great although I would like to see the face less "grainy", otherwise great idea.

What I love about this photo is the fragmentation of life so cleary demonstrated with the newspaper clippings, and the serious nature of the young man's portrait further emphasized by the grainy broodiness of the black and white. A realistic and deep reminder of the world all our children wake up to. 10.
