Challenge: Dreams and Nightmares (Classic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-10D
Location: Historical Society Museum - Town of Tonawanda, NY
Date: Oct 4, 2003
Aperture: 4.0

Galleries: Emotive, Portraiture
Date Uploaded: Oct 5, 2003

This ghost appears in that faded zone twixt sleep and wakefulness. Photographed at the Tonawanda-Kenmore Historical Society, this is the "ghost of Knoche Road", purportedly seen by motorists several times over the past 50 years. ...Truth be told, however, this is a doll dressed in a wedding gown inside a glass case. The transparency effect is due to reflections of the museum wall in front of the case on the glass. Photoshop 7.0 used to crop and sharpen. NeatImage used to reduce noise.

This would have been even more intense if you could have made the stain glass window clear with more contrast. I also would have liked the model a bit more centered. still a very artistic take on the challenge.

Ghostly and nice. Interetsing juxtaposition of ghost and stained glass, where the man is wearing black.

I'm guessing a manniquin in a church, very nice. The seeming effect of smoke in the area is very appealing and the slightly out of focus "ghost" works very well. If the vel was spread out slightly more so you could see through part of it would have cinched a much higher score from me.

The doll is too doll like. If it was a little more see thru and the background a little darker, it would have been better. I admire your attempt.

Good composition; the ghost is in just the right place. But the image is overexposed so the details are washed out.

Well done. The nice window in the background depicts a very serene setting, but you have contrasted it very nicely with the forground. Great shot! 8.

NIcely spooky. It even looks like it is in a church which adds a sort of holy virgin feel to it.

Nice effect. The background seems a little too misty, I would have prefered it clear and sharp, with the ghost staying as it is.

Smoky light and soft focus give this a really ghostly effect. Very nice.

This is wonderful ! Actually spooky. I like the way you added the fog or mist effect the stained glass window in the background adds depth to this shot..I like it

clever execution but sadly lacking any quality

nicely done....I like the effect, and the soft lighting and color makes it really effective

Ghosts are always pretty scarry, a bit washed out in the main subject. I am guessing that the two pictures where taken in different locations rather then the ghost being removed from one while the camera was left set up.

I have mixed fealing about the washedout background. I see the need for the effect, but I think a bit less would have looked better.
