Not thrilled with this; I was shooting inside from a distance and couldn't use flash for fear of distracting a dog and, more significantly, enraging an owner. +3.5 exposure compensation at ISO 1600, shutter-priority.
There is a distortion in the gates (fence-looking crosshatches) that is in the original and I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it in post-processing, other than drawing over it, which seemed like a lot of editing :-(
I like the expression on the dog, the lighting and the crop, and can live with the blurring from cleaning up the noise, but ... any ideas on how to deal with the gate?
i'm looking for a pic of sage and noticed this wonderful shot your profile page .. what a stunning photograph mary .. now to continue my quest for sage .. !!:)
Was this animal going for a title? We are going for our novice obedience title, CD, tomorrow. I like this image too. I love the softness of the fur and the expression is wonderful on the dog.
Obviously with the favs no one minds the gate at all. I certainly don't. The softness really suits this well - it highlights the softness of the dog, and the beauty of its devotion. The light on the front of the coat is awesome.
I had a golden very similar to this. It brings back fond memories. With this image the way it is, I would not have taken notice of the gate.......unless you pointed it out!......8>)
This is so beautiful! Personally, I think the gate isn't a problem... the subject is so stunning it dominates my attention and lets me ignore the fence. I like the soft silky effect everthing has - it brings out the most glorious tones in the dog's coat. The colors and lighting are exquisite. Splendid image!! :)
Gate? What gate?? All I see is a beautiful, silky-coated dog engaged with his human :-) The blur created by the NI (or whatever) works so well, it seems deliberate. Tones are great too... come on, you meant to do this, right?? :-)
I guess if you really hate the gate you could continue the ground up via cloning, but that really would be a lot of work and doesn't seem called for to me. It is very powerful as is IMHO!
The silken-ness of his coat reflects the very nature of a golden .... it's so beautiful!! You've captured something very special with this shot. Did the owner of the dog see this?
This photo makes my heart melt! The intense love and devotion in those eyes is something that touches people who love dogs so much! I also add my 2-cents that the gate is not an issue at all, and I also am one who loves the softness on the fur! I love the deep red tones.
In fact, the more I look at it -- the more of a favorite it becomes. Better add this one to my faovrites :) GREAT job!
I would have to agree with the others. The gate is non existent as far as my initial look at the image. Didnt even think about it until you mentioned it. Lovely softness to the image that just works wonderfully with the dogs coat. Would not hav ehad the same impact with a super sharp image. Lighting colors and focus are beautiful. Very nice capture and editing.
Beautiful Golden. Maybe a touch overdone with the Neat Image, but it works in this case. Almost like a beautiful soft painting. You're right, the dog's expression is priceless. Good one!!
