About the photo:
I placed the bottle in the middle of the composition as most beer commercials do to create "static" for the eye. (If you keep looking at it, it sales) The tight crop on top was to not let the viewer’s eye escape the scene. (Once again another advertisers "trick") And for the "sensor dust" well that is good ol' warm Pacific Ocean mist on my filter. The location is Lanikai, Hawaii on the island of Oahu.

Nice use of wide angle.
10/13/2006 07:06:46 PM
Nice picture!

I just kayaked out to those moaks (sp) a couple months ago!
10/11/2006 11:43:56 PM
Ribbon worthy for sure. And thanks for the explainations too.
10/11/2006 08:43:09 PM
That water looks as cool as the Corona! Congratulations on your Yellow.
10/11/2006 06:45:44 PM
Congratulations on the ribbon Daniel! It's a wonderful photo and well deserving of a ribbon.

It's curious that lots of people mentioned the sensor spots, which is a very minor problem and easily fixed, but nobody mentioned the unevenly polarized sky, which often happens when you use a polarizing filter with a wide angle lens.
10/11/2006 05:48:42 PM
Perfect..just like their real ads; should've been first place.
10/11/2006 01:29:38 PM
Congrats on your ribbon.
10/11/2006 12:05:51 PM
I really like this one - the color is great - congrats on the yellow!
10/11/2006 11:48:33 AM
Wonderful shot, congrats on your ribbon!
10/11/2006 10:01:09 AM
Congrats on your well deserved yellow ribbon! Great shot!
10/11/2006 09:26:14 AM
take the cap off!!!
this one would've scored higher without the bottle cap on

great pic
10/11/2006 08:57:56 AM
Thought you might ribbon with this Daniel...great image and a wonderful result
10/11/2006 12:40:09 AM
Congrats on your ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/rib3.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/rib3.gif', '/') + 1) . ' Daniel!
Darn sensor dust!!!
At least most know it's a way of life with a dSLR and not something that kills a score. (like it used to)
10/11/2006 12:31:47 AM
Congratulations on your ribbon. Great shot! - Gotta love Corona! ;-)
10/11/2006 12:18:06 AM
Looks like a still from that commercial. Congrats. Btw, Coronas getting ribbons? That beer tastes like crap! :P

Very nice! I couldn't take my eyes away from the picture :) The only thing that kept nagging at me was that the label wasn't quite centered.
10/10/2006 08:07:05 PM
Nice shot, though it seems to me that you are just slightly off with lining up the beer level with the horizon
10/10/2006 06:35:34 PM
JUST BEAUTIFUL!!! LOVE THE COLORS AND SERENITY! MAN I WISH I WAS RIGHT THERE!!!!
10/10/2006 10:30:01 AM
Makes me think of my favorite place, Mexico! I like the reflection of the bottle although there is a little too much background. Maybe if the right side of the photo was cropped off, one would be more focused on the beer. Nice work!
10/10/2006 08:50:31 AM
Classic product shot. nice sea where is it?
10/10/2006 04:18:35 AM
oooh the beach!!! I miss it so!
10/10/2006 01:37:13 AM
Very nice! Looks just like the ads! my only crit would be perhaps a bit too centered. Nice job overall!
10/09/2006 09:07:50 PM
I love the depth of field and the composition is dead on. The clouds lead me right to the point. However, you seem to have some sensor dust along the top 3rd of this image. 7, without the dust an easy 8
10/09/2006 08:51:28 PM
Make me drool over the location :) Clever. Great colors.
10/09/2006 05:19:13 PM
Not super original, but well excecuted.
10/09/2006 07:10:07 AM
i dont like the yellow border
10/09/2006 05:11:07 AM
i notice those spots. i wished the content of the bottle is not in line with the horizon. over-all nice picture. 8
10/08/2006 10:17:30 AM
great slogan,nice shot
10/07/2006 10:35:07 AM
Great idea! I love carona's commercials and this could be a still shot from one of them. Great choice of local for your shoot. Comp alllows for east text placement but I'd like to see a tighter crop for two reasons; you could present the product more prominently and it could adjust the comp to be a bit more off centered to make it a bit more interesting.
10/06/2006 06:05:52 PM
... Oh dear. I feel badly for the other Corona entries. I think I like one I've seen better than this one, maybe? (I am not a huge fan of your border, and I think the lighting was maybe too harsh. (But overall this really is a good shot.) ) But this just has such a WOW factor for anyone who has seen the Corona ads with the beach. I have to hand it to you for a wonderful concept.
10/06/2006 04:57:20 PM
I must say this really looks like something from a Corona commercial. Great Job! The only thing I would have liked to see would be little higher crop on the sky. But seriously this was a WOW. 10
10/06/2006 02:26:24 PM
This is really nice but it could be perfect with a few adjustments. A different crop so the bottle is not so centered. Cleaning your sensor before so there are no specks. Straighten your horizon.

I love the colours and the idea.
10/06/2006 10:24:49 AM
A good shot, I would probably preferred it with a less centered composition, but it works anyway
10/05/2006 03:06:04 PM
Satisfying image - very good
10/05/2006 01:29:59 PM
great except for the yellow border
10/05/2006 12:32:14 PM
some fill on the bottle would have helped this shot a lot
10/05/2006 08:14:22 AM
Impressive...looks very much like an ad.
10/04/2006 10:27:33 PM
Perfect - it really looks like an advertisement! Send it into Corona!!!!
10/04/2006 07:56:42 PM
I think that is a good image for colours and composition, there are some spots in the sky that are distacting.
10/04/2006 04:57:48 PM
very true
10/04/2006 04:25:01 PM
Straight out of their campaign... except for that sensor dust. :-( Still, nicely done. Might move the framing and/or the bottle so the bottle is a little further left in frame, though. Too centered for my personal tastes, anyway.
10/04/2006 04:11:01 PM
Better than the commercial. Panaramic view adds to photo. I just bumped up an extra point....to a 10
10/04/2006 03:11:34 PM
Looks like a nice place to be!
10/04/2006 01:11:06 PM
I love it, it´s a 10 but you have a dirty sensor
10/04/2006 01:08:13 PM
Yumm, very good, actually makes me want one :o) Beautiful surrounding - mmm, wish I was there... good colors, clear and well taken, doesn´t bother me that the bottle is almost in the middle - 10
10/04/2006 12:46:58 PM
Awesone scenery and cool shot!
10/04/2006 09:37:53 AM
a litle more to left with the flask and it would be great add - 7
10/04/2006 09:24:37 AM
good composition, frame doesn't add, might have looked better with a less wide-angled lens. sensor (or lens) dust is distracting
10/04/2006 09:22:58 AM
nice comp, I little more light on the bottle would make it stand out more. Sensor dust in the sky distracts
10/04/2006 08:09:05 AM
Excellent! Fits pefectly with their slogan. Great location and lighting. Looks like a real add Corona would put out. :-)
10/04/2006 05:41:21 AM
perhaps a ribbon winner??? great imag and the perfect spot to drink the beer...well done
10/04/2006 12:26:40 AM
Personally I would have liked to see a bit more sky, the crop feels a bit too tight... and imo the yellow border doesnt add to the image.
