Played a lot with the image in photoshop and RAW, to try and get the right balance of sharpness (think I have overdone this) and tone. Wanted to get the laughter lines deep and interesting. Had two curves adjustment layers and a layers adjustment layer. Used the channel mixer to achieve the desired tonal. If this had been advanced editing I'd have darkened the background with a bit of dodge and burn and tried to make the eye stay out instead of hiding in the shadow.

Interesting angle and crop. I would like to see a little more contrast, you have very little whites and blacks.

What's striking about this photo is the clarity of detail and the character lines in this man's face. Too bad the eyes are in shadow which would bring out the essentials of the model's face even more. 6.

this is more like perfect contrast than high contrast so...is it high contrast in the true sense of high contrast? perhaps not...but awesome image and expression 7
