Looking at the voting breakdown for this image i see that somebody actually voted 1. Difficult to comprehend such a vote. I am now abosolutely certain that there are sinister and bad minded people on DPC. Congratulations again on your blue.

It seems that a finger can touch this guys little head and make all them droplets run! Acute detail and very worthy of the BLUE. Congratulations!

Wow!! Thanks for all the nice comments. I was walking down a path and saw this last remaining bunch of flowers, when I got closer, there he was hiding in a perfect pose. I used a kenko 36mm extension tube and a sb600 flash with a stofen omni bounce. I took some other shots without the flash that gave me a nicer green background, but the wind and the light were against me.

Outstanding capture - my top pick!

To be honest, from the thumbnail I was not impressed.. but that TOTALLY changed looking at the full-sized image. Just WOW!! The detail here is nothing less than amazing.

IMO this is not a centered comp. My eyes are drawn comfortably to the grasshoppers eye. From there my eye is drawn up the OOF flower petal and then down the infocus flower to the "cheek"...then back to the eye.

It is a fluid shot which makes you want to keep looking.

Well you can see that I was the 4th person to comment on your shot and gave it a 10. Good job.

Also, how many extention tubes did you use? What was the total length of the tubes? Please PM me with info!

Beautiful image. Wish I'd used a couple I had like it. They still wouldn't have held up to yours. I'm assuming you used flash.
Didn't vote because I didn't enter, but it would have been an instantaneous 10 when I saw it. Got tickled at the spray bottle comments below, hoppers usually won't hold still for that. As for centered composition, I thought the eye was pretty close to being on a third. :) You know you have a good macro shot when it scores a blue ribbon even with the creep out vote. Go ahead and buy that 105 VR Macro lens now. You deserve it.

Wow!!! Super. So far I think this one might get it!! Really, really nice image. Never really connected with a grasshopper through a photo before, but this one seems to be saying...."ah crap, here we go again with the rain....I'll just hang here for a while until it stops...hmmmmmmmm". Big vote, well done.
