Challenge: Purple II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Minolta DiMAGE 7i
Location: My Home Studio
Date: Sep 26, 2006
Aperture: F/4.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: one second
Galleries: Vintage, Food and Drink
Date Uploaded: Sep 26, 2006

Studio Lighting (front & back) with camera set to B/W with violet filter, Adjustment Layers of Shadow/Highlight, Contrast/Brightness, Saturation, Photo Filters(Deep Emerald & Violet), Noise Reduction, then USM, Resized, and Saved for Web. Used the Deep Emerald to mute the purplish cast over-all, and the Violet filter at 1/3 strength to bring the wine glass out a bit more. As always I used my knowledge of the scientific properties of color in my continuing attempt to isolate the subject and focus the viewer's eyes on the subject while remaining within the rules of Basic Edit ("...a filter may be used on the photo over-all, but not on any part individually".) :)

wrinkles in the backdrop do much to undercut the impact of this photo.

Looks like one of them 'Dry' vintages...very pale.

I think I would have liked this one better if it had been a bit more vibrant and not so washed out.

I don't like all the glare on the top of the glass.

I really like the composition. The reflection on the right side of the glass is a distraction.
