Trying to be a bit subversive again - making a traditional pretty macro subject into something a little less appetising. Not sure how well rotting fruit is going to go with voters but I like it so that’s all that matters.
I don't have a light tent so I turned off all the lights, kept the shutter open for 15 seconds and manually fired off the flash about 20 times, bouncing it off the roof and walls to get a nice even light. Shot in RAW so I could adjust the WB seeing as my walls are a horrid pink colour and give a really strange light. I got some 60c bits of cardboard from the newsagency to use as backdrops for my macros and this is the first time I've used them.
Editing was sort of simple, levels layer and a selective colour layer to make the whites really white. But the colours weren't quite right and while playing around I did an auto levels layer and adjusted the opacity to about 40% which improved the colours a lot. Then I just sharpened and saved for web

Good idea..
but the setting let the shot down.
Try doing it on a white plate or something like that..
It might help to add a little more dimension to the shot. :)

Hard to get over the yuck! response to judge the photo neutrally. (I.e to not go ewwww! low score!) Very well done, but ewww...
