 This was an ABSOLUTE blast to shoot. :D My friend Kris agreed to be the mad scientist and we started gathering supplies. The beaker and flask were borrowed from a friend that works in a chemistry lab, the lab coat from another friend that's a chemistry major, and the safety goggles from my uncle (who's a pyrotechnic operator).

We shot this in the back room of my uncle's house. There were LOTS of distracting elements that could have screwed the shot up, so we decided to keep the background in total darkness, use a black backdrop, and use a 6 ft blacklight as our primary light source. The fun part was making our mystery "chemicals" glow. First we just tried neon food coloring in water, but that failed horribly to hold light. So we just added a little milk to cloud it up and that totally did the trick! There's a small mag light behind the green fluid in the beaker to give it that glow.

For the flask, we taped a LED flashlight with a blue gel to my friend's wrist to provide that back-lighting. The blue milk-water mixture didn't disperse the light as well as the green, but I think it still did the trick. We also dropped in a chunk of dry ice to the blue liquid in the flask to provide the smoke. :)

Hehe, great title. The colours work really well here, would have been better though if he would have had gloves on, so you would see the hands clearer.
