Challenge: The Corporate World (Classic Editing)
Camera: Minolta DiMAGE 7i
Location: Colorado Springs
Date: Jul 27, 2002
Aperture: 4.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/180

Increased saturation of the whole photo helped the church to stand out better. When I saw this scene, I realized how some have lost faith in the coporate sector due to fraud, over-valued stocks, and misinformation. Many lost value due to panic sell off.

Nice. The church in the reflection connects with the background and your title. Good composition

Excellent job of getting the reflection in focus. This is a great capture. I think it needs to be cropped just a touch on the left, and if it had been possible to shoot at another time of the day, maybe the NASDAQ wouldn't have a glare (of course, you probably wouldn't have as good a reflection, either.) karmat

awsome reflection

Good photo, good title.

This is a really cool reflection shot. I tried a lazy crop, I like this better as a portrait shot of just the right half. The brick, NASDAQ sign and other building just add to the distractions. USBancorp and the church would have been good enough. Too bad you couldn't go into the business and close their blinds. Finally, your title, are you trying to say that in order to be successful in the corporate world, you have to lose your faith? 8 Swash (looks like the Puget Sound, is this Tacoma?)

I love this idea. Although the aesthetics aren't top-notch, I love the message. 7.

I so much like "found" shots over "setup" ones. Your colors are bright, the reflection is very clear. The only thing I might have done differently (if at all possible) would be to wiat for the traffic to clear before taking the photo. I do realize that sometimes that is not possible so I am not marking you down for it. 9 BAMartin

could be an interesting interpretation - have we been replacing our faith with money? Nice reflection
07/30/2002 11:18:00 AM
Not a comment directed at you in particular, but the weak puns are starting to grate, oh well on to the next, no doubt it'll be money going down a plughole, or something about bulls.

Oh, and the picture looks a bit 'squinty'. Maybe a polaroid filter would get rid if the brightness, and help penetrate the NASDAQ sign. Maybe a vertical frame and stepping to the left a bit would help isolate the active elements in the picture (The sign and the relected church) from the other bits, like the the traffic and the other buildings.

Your right on the money with this great reflection.

Nice idea. Good colour but bad light.

i like the reflextion this was a tough subject
07/29/2002 02:57:00 PM
I like this, imaginative but could use some more lighting/contrast
07/29/2002 02:09:00 PM
would have been better if the ticker sign had an average on it.
07/29/2002 01:59:00 PM
Cropped just a bit further out, I think this would be better. It's pretty good now.

nice framing of picture and idea

A decent idea, just needs more work on composure. Seems almost like a snap shot. Try different angles and crops.

Good contrast of subjects. The turning car is a distraction, but otherwise excellent. -ClubJuggle

I think the framing on this particular image could have been a little stronger.. the reflection is nice but the upper left corner possibly should have been cropped out.. - jmsetzler
