This is Katrin, first time she did a photoshoot with us. As usual, Henny took care of the makeup and helped me stylize the photoshoot. This is shot shortly before 9 pm and it was getting very cold but Katrin didn´t complain once, we went to two different places to take pictures, both with her in the water and this was the second one and at this time she had been in the cold water for almost half an hour total with only a short break in between. Anyway, she was a real trooper, a true viking spirit in her.

Lit with a single bowens monolight with a 75° softlite reflector.

Post processing was just basic raw conversion, cropped it very slightly, maybe 1% to get rid of a bright corner up in the left corner that was drawing too much attention. A little curves adjustment and shadow highlights and a small adjustment with selective color too. Sharpened after resizing. Those straws that are by the reflection really bother me and I would have removed them in advanced editing, also would have added some vignetting but other than that, happy with the editing in this photo.

Here is an outtake I was considering submitting instead of this shot.

Congratulations on the winning of another ribbon. Great photo! How did you ever find someone that would pose in cold, freezing water! I can't believe how really close all three of us were in the final score.

Nice picture... nice reflection and colors, lightning... very good in every way.. The only n.p. from me is the look on the girls face and the shadow around her eyes.... but, amazingly done in every way - good luck :o)- 9

This is an incredible photograph. It is one of my favorites in this challenge. I love the darker light and the movement in the water. And of course, the beautiful model. Great job. You have my vote. 9.

this would be so much more compelling if I could just imagine that the model were doing something, anything, besides posing for a picture.

I would have liked to have seen the model on the other side of the frame with her face pointing to the empty area of picture, I think I can see that she is looking at the camera, but all the same my eyes run to the left on this photo which is the small side. Also I would have liked her placed more to the top of the frame, her arms and torso provide me with a diving line that is closer to the middle of the frame. Very nice photo and I would guess this is going to finish on the front page.

You know, I'm kinda new to photography...this rule of thirds thing...to me, it seems like the subject is not quite what I understand the rule to be...but...with the reflection...it brings the subject to center of a third. I'm not sure if that's what the challenge was. But, it's a great photo - focus, color and lighting. I'm sure you'll get bonus points for the model (!). I'll give it an 8 because I think could be tilted to the right ever so slightly.

WOW! the kind of shot I would like to do and I do not were to start from.

I would like just a bit less light on the lady's forehead, but I still find it a very good shot. 8

Hmmm, I wonder if this could be the work of the great Larus... :) The composition is perfect as usual and the woman is very well lit. I only have a couple small qualms with this shot. It's tough to get around the unpredictable nature of weather, but I wish there were more colors in the sky. Also, the reeds that appear to be in the lower-left portion of the frame are a little distracting. Still an awesome shot though. I love how her positioning and her reflection fill in different thirds of the shot. :D Excellent overall shot - 9 from me.

Like the lighting here. Seducing image. Just wish you'd made the shot a few minutes earlier to capture the amazing red sunset better. (But perhaps it wasn't as impressive as I think)

love the shot the only thing i'd do different, if possible set up the lighting so it looked more natural with the lighting from the left background (come off the left not the right)

wow! i want this one to medal! the lighting is stunning - what was your set up?

The reflection accentuates your subject's pose, and her stare really grabs your attention
