This is a candid. I have no idea who this woman is. I was taking infra-red shots of the Chicago skyline when I noticed a woman with a parasol standing a few feet from me. I took a few steps back to get her into the frame and snapped this shot.

Here's another shot that's perhaps technically better, and has a great sky. In the end I chose to enter the shot with the girl in it because I think it leaves a more lasting impression on the viewer.

Thanks to Mark Bond for the inspiration and for showing me what equipment to get and how to post process this kind of image.

Another of two exceptional examples of IR in this challenge.

Hey - you are by the zoo, and you have migrated to the world of IR. Pretty cool...now I can see more than trees and mountains. The city will be a nice twist, can't wait to see more from you.

Maya

P.S. This pic is soooo your style! The slight blur on the girl, perfect composition. Was she twirlling the parasol? Dosen't matter...new fav!

I think this is the most interesting infared in the challenge...and there are quite a few this go-round. I like all of the elements in this shot and I have to say that the more I look, the more I like it. I'll bump you up...and I already had you marked at an 8. Good luck.

This might take the surreality award for this challenge. I have a vague desire for the girl to be a bit more in focus... perhaps the swans/boats(?) too. Skyline is crisp and great. There are some chunky color variations in the sky, but they aren't too bad. One of the more interesting IR shots I've seen.

interesting idea, too bad she came out a little blurry. IR looks pretty good and I like the cityscape in the background.

I'm normally not a big fan of IR, but this image is pretty cool. I think the effect adds to the impact of the photo in this case. Good, solid composition also. Nice job.

This is my highest rated of the IR shots - IR isn't my cup of tea but this one is very nicely done. Can't help but think it would be great in B&W, non-IR as well.

Most unusual effect using IR.
Some shots work in InfraRed, some don't. This is a case where it does work well, and the composition is really made with the girl in it. Well done.

Somehow the girl with parasol seems very out of place in this image. It would be a nice IR without her, but she's just kindof distracting, particularly because the parasol is so bright.

Looks like an olympus c2020 ir shot. I may prefer it without the girl. You had perfect infrared weather for this one.

i love the contrast between the dreamy magical trees and the modern skyline. not sure about the girl with parasol though.. her strapson her back are a bit distracting me. I think only using the whiter top would be awesome.

She held nice and still, eh? Or do you have a filterless sensor? Every time I see IR I just know I need to go out and get a filter. 7

like the parasol, the IR is good but getting a bit overused here at DPC.

Wow! One of the most interesting infrared photos I've ever seen! So clean. Such great contrast with the buildings that aren't infrared. And I love the effect of the girl with the umbrella in the foreground. This is one of the awesome ones in a very incredible challenge for sure -- In fact, I'm adding this one to my favorites! 10

like most of these types of IR shots, it has masses of instant visual appeal. though, this one more so than others because it's so damn picturesque! composition is wonderful; the girl on the left really makes it gel, and the skyline really adds a depth, sense of scale and a nice break between the light sky and trees. only slight quibble is that the slightly yellow tinge makes the trees less visually appealing (like smokers teeth) and the blob of turquoise on the brolly is a bit distrcting. otherwise, great stuff that's visually lovely. 9.

on a side note, i must confess i have been dabbling with this sort of thing recently, and really everything i do is really crud compared to this - technically i wonder how you got such a great shot from the evidentally short exposure time (either that of the swan is amazingly compliant with the still pose). was this with a dslr, or a converted compact?
