Not sure how this image will do with all the PS but I thought I would give it a shot!

Curves, hue and saturation, brightness and contrast, added a cement layer and adjusted it opacity, dodging and burning, resized, cropped...i think that's it...

EDIT AFTER CHALLENGE!

Ok i am not really sure how I acheived that texture. But it was a texturized filter I added in PS. I uploaded a cement texture and saved it as a PSD loaded it and messed with opacity and all sorts of areas...added it twice I believe, dodged some areas...yeah, alot more work that I normally do...but that's ok it's a very interesting texture!

Thanks for all the votes! I do appreciate all the comments too!

I personally "LOVED" this one, and can't believe it did't score better..... I loved it Angela, so always remember that.....
My free study image, did really poorly, but I also still love my image, so that is what counts.
As long as you love your own image, you then know, you did well, and thats what matters.

Great study in PP, Angela. I can visualize seeing this photo at the airports etc. Has a very nice, calming effect when you take the time to look at it. Not sure about your placement, though, could have to do something with voters not having the luxury of spending more time with this one.

You beat me by one slot! I got 341 and you're at 340. Too funny. I like the layers in this...very artistic feel to it. Hooray for the 50%ers!

gave this one a 10. though the effect of the filter initially turned me off, i warmed quite quickly to how it actually really suits the shot. i love the wild west big epic cinematic scale of this picture, the location and size of the building somehow enhancing the remoteness of the shot. the colours are rich and bold, and the feel of the water colour type style gives it a really authentic old look. lovely.

Interesting film-type effect - emotive and interesting.

The title certainly is well-suited to this image.
It's dreary, dismal, lonely.
I have mixed feelings on the textures and such added here, as I think it went a little too far for my tastes, and actually reminds me of a water-damaged picture that was stuck to another.

Hmm... while I really like the photo itself, I'm not sure how I feel about the texture / overlay thing going on. I think it possibly distracts the eye from the image as a whole. Just my opinion.

um, interesting....did you use some sort of texure on this? is that even legal? I'll give you the benefit of a doubt. But whatever that texture throughout the image is from, i think it distracts from what would otherwise be quite a god picture.

The filter effect is neat, but in the darker areas I think it takes away from the artistic feel of the picture... I do enjoy the bottom right area though... it looks like a painting... cool idea

This is one scene where the noise (fuzzyness) and softness add to the overall effect. Almost has a painted quality. I really like this . BOL. 8 here

With the 'textures' present this photo really takes on the appearance of a painting. The colors on the ground, the textures seen in the darkening sky and the single building really sets a mood for an isoloted place. A lone stop far off the beaten path of the more well-traveled roads by the looks of things and the deserted road off on the left hand side. Again this photo projects a feel of a painting representing a slice of rustic Americana.

I don't know how you created this texture, but it looks amazing, very painting-like. Good job!

"WOW", this looks awesome, and the title certainly suits this image so well. It almost looks like a painting. So richly colored in the earthy colors, yet stark and desolate in subject matter. A truely amazing image here.
I really love this one, and hope it does well.....

Composition: 8 - The negative space works very well and the house is in a good spot.
Technical: 7 - I really like the high contrast except for the slight blown out part on the clouds, and the softness works well too. I'm not really a fan of the texture either. I'll vote as if it's legal, but I'm not sure that it is if you overlayed another photo.
Creativity: 6 - A nice interesting shot considering the flat landscape.
Appeal: 7 - Interesting to look at and has drama, I like it :)

Overall Calculated Average Score: 7

Very interesting. Looks almost like a painting. Not sure how to vote here. I like it...but is it a quality photo?? Is the little smiley face in the clouds on purpose?

Very dramatic photo, the PP is perfect this scene. The only complaint about this is the black in the lower right corner. An excellent artistic photo!

I'm not sure if you intended it, but I am seeing a lot of JPEG artifacts in the image, though it might be an attempt to make it look aged... Also the clouds with the sun on them are blown out too much and distract from the scene.
