I don't know how this will go really, but apart from the main subject being masts, there is no standout subject. I had a better shot of this I took for the rope challenge but I was 2 hours early on the right date...boo!

I took this on the day of the deadline and the clouds and light weren't what I was looking for.

basically colour adj, levels and USM, border and resize, dodge and burn a bit...perhaps a bit too ruched with 15 minutes to go

I am guessing 5.7 or so...

Maybe this shot will surprise me...

On the discussions that happened prechallenge...every shot has a subject even if it is a grey wall...the subject is a 'grey wall'. So here, there is no prominent subject except masts with no standout subject. It works for me...

Hello from the Critique Club.

To start with, I very much agree with your definition of Subjectlessness. If anyone can find a primary focal point to this image they need to step back to see the forest from the trees. To bad you waited for the last day of the challenge to shot this image. I imagine that the masts would have even been more striking if the sky was primarily blue. I like the color of your border, as it ties in well with the lines of the dark tied up sails; however, it is a bit wide when compared to the features of the image. You scored pretty well with this image considering the sky you had to work with. Nice job and I really like the work you did here.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions regarding this critique.

Whoa! What an awesome photo!!! I missed this one in the voting, but I sure would have picked it to be in the top very few. The composition is so appealing, and enhanced so much by those incredibly rich colors and the dramatic sky! Excellent photography!

One of my top picks in the challenge. I guess entering any shot that has an object or objects in it was risking those DMNC comments, but with no real focal point or mast that stands out, I say it is subjectless. All of the lines are great, leading your eye around, and the little splashes of color are fantastic. Well done! :)

I like this alot, but I definitely wouldn't call this an image with no subject matter. I would say masts is the major subject resonating throughtout this. Nice lighting and color.

OH yeah ... that's great. I have a marina near me and keep meaning to take a shot of the masts. This is beautiful. The alignment and colors form a great random pattern.

One of the most impressive photos submitted in this challenge; although it is in my opinion subject-oriented. Regardless, this is amazing work.

Oh, I love this. The light is amazing - love the patterns and colors. I'm so glad you chose color, because it looks like it could be mighty tempting in b&w too. Nice job.

What a great shot! Something so simple and yet the masts become something else. I also like the color tone.

Borderlines on being too busy, but the great light prevents that and strengthens the concept. With all those masts and the interesting sky you've created a nice photograph.

the picture is beautiful - great tones and colors - but the big black border is kinda garish.
