Another shot taken at the Columbus Zoo. Down in the lower parts of Africa they have this misty area on the walk path. It is always this foggy. I wanted to take some pics of the kids walking through but there were people ahead of us and people coming quick behind and the kids werent being too helpful. I popped this shot off just to see what it would look like. I had to crop it pretty heavy to remove the overexposed sky and Rowan on the bottom. Aimee really liked this shot compared to my other possible entries so here it goes.

Post Process - crop, levels, saturation adjustments, USM, gaussian blur a couple of times, border, resize for web.

Ah, fuggedabout the purse. It's a way cool shot, very mysterious.

I looked at the other comments before writing this, so everything has already been said. The purse. Drat. The guy's body language is great. This image has an unworldly, mystical feel to it. Another terrific finish.

Another 6+ in another challenge I didn't vote it. Hmmm... maybe there's a connection... (j/k) I like the pink. Not sure why it's pink but it's kinda nice that way. Only thing I don't like is the purse, but what are you gonna do about that?

Trading post...
I gave this a 6 in voting. After reading your comments I realize you didn't pick your models. LOL. I thought it was weird to have that purse in there. Otherwise it would look just like a tropical rain forest with some indigenous people emerging from the mist.

*Critique Club*
TIM!!!
Your submission was given to me for the critique.
First I must tell you I am humbled to critique this high placing photo! I'll try and critique it with my usual formula. Gotta say, I'm no photo pro, I just like to look at and take pictures.
How the pic made me feel: A) before I read the photographer's comments...Got to smell the humid tropical air. Got to hear the wild tropical birds. Got the feeling of being in a tropical rain forest.Hadn't noticed the handbag yet, Then...B) after reading your photographer's comments...Ah man! A zoo!!! I got to feel your frustration at the people walking by. Why do they always step in front just at the right time?! Do they WANT to be in the picture? Not an easy setup, as you state!
What I like about your picture: I like the tropical innuendo. A lot. I like, of course, the misting that gives the soft focus, thus meeting the challenge quite well. I also like the framing type of composition. I adore the sunlight coming through the mist.
What I like a bit less: I completely understand that your models were not by choice, but the handbag breaks the feeling. The dude looks like he's exploring the forest. The lady, well, is just passing through, as if she's saying:"get out of my way!"
All in all, a very nice pic, and I think it did great. Keep it up!!!

The photo does nothing to help in seeing the soft focus. Nice photo otherwise.

I love this photo! If it weren't for the bag in the background, you could be mistaken for thinking these people were from some remote tribe - such is the feel this image conjours.

This shot is just plain cool. I love the silhouettes in the mist. I especially like the purse....yeah...the purse makes the shot! Hee hee!

The mist works well to add a softness to this image and I like the rays of light shining through :o)

I like the figures in the mist; the handbag takes a little away from the effect.

Soft focus technique does not mean photograph of a misty scene ;-)

I bet you are getting hit with the "it is a silhouette not soft focus" but I like it. The light is neat and I also like the effect of the mist as what puts into soft focus. 6

wow. cool image. great look. it's too bad you couldn't have gotten this without the person carrying the bag. I can only assume this place was really crowded and you had to shoot quickly. A single person better positioned would have nailed this shot!
