The zoo seems to be pretty good to me lately. I hang out at the tiger den quite often. This day they were hanging out in their cave. I dont have a really lon glens so my shots of them here are usually pretty poor. A family was standing right where I wanted to be for a clean shot. As I was walking back and forth to the two locations I wanted to shoot from to get around the tree I realized that the tree might be in a perfect place. I had no ideas for this challenge and wasnt planning on shooting for it but this idea came immediatley to mind. The tree was in a perfect place and the cats were lying just right to get this shot to look like one looooonnnnggggg tiger. Its not a perfect shot but I think its pretty funny.

Post process - levels, desat/saturation adjustments, cloning on tree to hide some of the overexposed glare, USM, crop, border, resize for web.

You are definitely on a roll...another clever photo. I'm not sure how you managed to get such clarity with the tigers and the tree trunk (given the dark lair and lighter tree) using f/5.8 (I would have thought DoF would blur the tree) but you have clearly accomplished a super photo under difficult lighting conditions.

Very cool! I didn't see this one (well, that's because I didn't vote in this challenge). I really like it, though! Color and focus on the tiger(s) is excellent. How did you get the cat AND the enclosure both so sharp? Nice 6+ again, too.

Trading post...
Excellent processing Tim. The colors are fantastic! The optical illusion is brillant! If I had voted in this one I would have given this a 10.

Hello from the Critique Club.

What can I say? You took what could be considered a snapshot and made it into a very good challenge entry. You knew going in that this didn't have enough Wow Factor to win but it is nice to see that the voters can reward a good image with a good score. All of the technical aspects are well done, focus, cropping, post processing.

The only suggestion I have is to take some studio lights and a generator with you next time and light the lion's den properly ;-). Nice job.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions regarding this critique.

Tim

LOL. Unlike many other entries, I got the mystery of this one even without the title! Not much to say about it - sometimes you get lucky with what you see, and you shoot. You framed the tiger nicely within his cave. 6.
