took this photo this weekend after a quick weekend in maine for my husband's family reunion. this trip was a 17-hour trip one way both up and back -- YIKES!!!

i really wanted to enter this challenge since i'm both a pea and a dpchallenger...AND since i haven't entered a challenge in a very long time.

this is a photo of my husband's grandfather, who has been a farmer his entire life. he is the single most "goodest" person i know. i don't think i've ever met a better man in my life -- amazing life story and amazing man. he loves what he does (obviously he's a farmer).

taken in early evening using a reflector...i was standing on a step ladder while my assitant (husband) held the reflector.

the tractor in the background is awesome...i wish i had gotten more of it in the photo. this photo screamed for b&w, so i'm not so sure the peas actually stand out :(

also, i'm not crazy about the composition. if i could reshoot, i would... BUT, i'm not driving 17 hours up and 17 hours back for a while! so the reshoot will have to wait :) i'm happy with capturing gpa webb's expression, but the photo didn't turn out like the shot i envisioned in my head (i hate when that happens!!!)

not a bad candid type shot but the lighting seems harsh. also in black and white it is impossible for me to tell the peas, and they should be more of the focal point for the challenge IMO

There should be color here, so the viewer knows what he/she is looking at. Very nice angle and contrast.

Great subject. The guy is perfect for this shot! Couple of things holding back what could have been a tremendous shot; 1) the lighting is very harsh, 2) the image isn't focused as well as it should be, 3) maximize your real estate - use 640px on the long side for better detail.

The composition is very good, wonderful in fact... Best of luck to you in the challenge.

This looks like an ad from the 40s or a picture from a school book.
