nice composition - it would be nice to see the tip of the match lit a bit more

I like the sharp focus you have on the match itself. Great use of contrast and reds.

nice macro, but it feels like there is almost a depth of field issue going on, as if the flame is some distance behind the match and it doesn't feel as if the match has actually been lit. it's a weird optical illusion i guess. it's a nice study of what happens once a match is struck, but i do with the flame element was more defined. 6.

I think that for a match shot to do well in a fire challenge, it has to be really special and do more than merely light it.

This is beautiful. I have always liked the way that matches have the second flame that "drips down" from below (the flame that starts to the left on your image). I like how you captured this, as well as the match in mid-burn (some charred portion and some non-charred portion visible). I like how the match head fades into the background, and how there are such fine details visible on the match. What I love most of all is the magenta and blue colors that are visible at the bottom. Truly a wonderful and uncommon image of a common subject.

good, clear close up of 'another' match...I like this one, particularly the red glow on the match head itself
