Simple setup (re-done)-

- Glass utensil in front of tilted laptop screen
- Some alcohol
- Camera already set on tripod in burst mode
- Exposure set to -1EV
- Lit the alcohol
- Clicked many shots to get interesting shapes of fire

Post Processing -

- Crop
- Levels
- Hue/Saturation
- Minor cloning of shadows
- Buring of base to remove reflections
- Saved for web
- NeatImage with some sharpening

Not the shot and style of my choice but I know this can score decent numbers. I have done this already so I will rate it low on creativity but thats all I could do to meet the deadline :) Hope it serves the purpose and does not bring down avg score.

Hi from the Critique Club!

Nice image here!

I like the background color and composition. The centering adds a lot to this photo in my opinion. I also think the vignetting helps.

The image is a little dark for my taste; particularly the center of the glass. If it were a little "clearer" I think it would have made this image pop. (Eg. Look at the smooth color and clarity of the glass handle.)

The flame is nice, it may have been a little more interesting if the flame was a little bolder and was pointed to the left. (Maybe a little wind)

Well that's just my two cents, take it or leave it. But, I really do like this image and I think it has potential.

:)

very nice... it lacks something.. maybe it is cropped too close... underrated in my opinion... good work

I like this image, the simple flame and the highlight on the translucence of the creamer/gravyboat cup thingie is great. I like the color chosen for the background too. I'm not sure what's missing though that'd really make the image pop for me. More light? Not sure if that'd effect the flame and the glow of the background. The focus seems okay, but perhaps if it were a bit sharper (initially not from sharpening since there seems to be some compression artifacting around the glass possibly from sharpening) that might help it pop more. I guess I'm really looking for it to be defined from the background more. Great idea though, glad I saw this one. I gave it a 5

Very nice hues and low key lighting. Love that purple. Is close enough to lamp but maybe is magic creamer ;-)

The color here is fabulous. I like the subtlety and the grace, a refreshing change from the more dark and in-your-face shots.

Now this is very nice. My only want is to have the flame sharper and the horizon is a little bowed. I would have loved to see those 2 things corrected. 6

colours are great...the dark marks in the cup are a little distracting, but I am going to bump this one up
