Big thanx to Steinar Hugi, my Mag7 teammate for helping me out, couldn´t have taken this shot without him. We took this in his garage using his monolights, since he had them I didn´t bother dragging mine with me (that bag must weigh 20+kg!)

Anyway, this shot is inspired equally by Gaurawas "Five" entry and Kiwiness´s "Complementary Colors III" shot, must be something to do with the fact that I got an honorable mention in both these challenges :) Title idea gotten from Gaurawas shot obviously.

Lighting is two Novotron lights, one from the front with an umbrella and one from the back that was direct to light up the smoke, that one had a blu gel filter on it. I needed Steinars help to time this, behind and below the matches there was a small tray with water that Steinar threw some lit matches in to increase the quantity of smoke and he had to do it at the same time as I lit the match. He took some photos of the setup, if anyone is interested I´ll ask him to post them.

Post processing was not that much except for some use of healing brush to clone out some smoke in the black areas, removed a match head wich placement didn´t make any sense and some gum that was barely visible to keep the matches in place. Increased contrast and saturation and sharpened after resizing.

Back to bump you up. This is nicely done. Excellent use of complementary colors with the orange/yellow flame and the blue smoke. Cool idea too. 7

Great image. Like the color and clarity. The different shapes created by the spent matchsticks adds some nice interest as well. I gave a 6

Nice shot. I like the way the smoke looks blue in the pick. Adds the perfect touch of color to the top of the composition.

After the success of a few different match shots in recent challenges, it was rather predictable that Fire would be innundated with matches. However, I like this one. It's a solid shot that displays a bit of creativity which sets it apart from the others.

there's a poignancy to the burnt-out matches. I would have preferred you to emphasize them more, or at least not have them blend into a black background.
