Took this picture in hopes that I would do as good as Kiwiness' and Gaurawa's match images. I give it up to them though this was a VERY hard picture to take but I wanted to recreate it and go from there.

I went thru about 2.5 boxes of matches to get this to work right. I first tried taking the picture in the dark with the shutter speed on 1/1000th of a second but was not giving me the light on the match that I really wanted. I then started playing with light near then directly on the match to give it's glow. I must have almost started the match just from the heat of the lights haha. I took about 200 pictures and edited about 75 of them. This particular image, I did at least 10 different ways and decided on this one. Once I imported it into PS I was able to burn out the holder that was holding the match and the smoke that was surrounding the match. I'm sure I would have been killed on that from the voters if the smoke was in there. Cropped then saved for web. Hope you like looking at this as much as I did. I just can't wait until I get my new camera. This image would have come out about 2 millions times better.

Very nice shot - the border is a bit wide though as it almost overpowers the simplicity of the shot

Your title is a little cumbersome for me, as is the border. But for the shot itself, I think you captured the act of striking a match very well. I especially like how the match fades into the background.

not a big fan of borders, but the shot is cool and it's in focus.

It is... in my native language (portuguese) match is "fosforo" (reads almost like "phosphorous") so I can see the connection... and yes your picture is striking. Nice.

lol. that title is right up my dorky science loving isle. i like the photo only criticism is that the upper right hand corner up near the red border has a weird white spot.

I think a match shot in this challenge needs to be super creatively done to fare well, and nothing about this stands out. The matchstick isn't perfectly in focus and there's a bit of image noise to be dealt with.

Nice timing! What can I say about this but wonderful. Kiwi-esq no?
