it looks as scruffy as it must feel!

hehehe, funny title. nice placement of the bail of hay in the shot. just a couple of things in the background that i would've tried to control (if possible): the powerlines (that's what i think it is) coming at the right side out of the hay and also poking out at the top. and the bits of tree in the upper right corner. -- gr8photos (5)

nice texture,. but the space on the left of the bail need not be there and it should be a lot closer so texture is the real subject

Total Score8

For those that are just learning, like me.

Composition: Scoring in this area is based on basic composition of a picture and includes the rule of thirds, balance, cropping, and curved and diagonal lines. Subject matter that does not lend itself to the picture or otherwise unwanted is also considered here.

Originality: Scoring in this area is based on pictures or concepts that I have seen, as well as how much effort you have invested in the picture. Usually a little something that sets it aside from a snapshot. Does it make me want to come back for another look? You know things like that.

Technical Aspects: Focus, exposure, lighting, and other special effects (done by the camera), and post processing are all considered in this category.

Meets Challenge: This is based on my interpretation of if you, have/have not, met the challenge. This is fairly simple but quite important for this site.

There are many sites that can give you assistance in achieving better skills in photography, but I think the best way to learn is to take pictures and show them to other people. Believe me when it is a good one you will know it.

Good luck!

I LIKE this picture, but not necessarily as a representation of texture. I think a close up shot of the hay would be better for texture.

I don't think its doing anything to warrant taking a photo of it!

Perhaps a shallower dof would be nicer here.

I like this. I think your composition and framing are well done, as is your choice of texture. On the whole, though, it feels a little flat. Can you boost contrast just a touch. It may really help the colors and textures "jump" a little more. karmat

great subject but need more simple background

Good subject matter. Exposure looks good. I might have made the depth of field shallower put focus on the hay.

Your title is one of my favorite jokes, and your photo is lovely! The contrast of the grass against the yellowed-out hay is great.

Too much background clutter,a close up of the hay would have worked better.

Cute title and a good photo too.
