How did you do this as I can't work it out..... Fantastic shot, and one of my all time greatest shots I have seen at DPC. Especially the stopped action motion. I do hope the fish is ok, and that it lived to se another day..... Please let me know how you did this Jorge, as I am quite perplexed about it.....
I wanted to know how the fish fits in but the link wouldn't work for me. I love the picture anyhow with the little bit of blue and orange and the big splash in the middle. Congratulations on a very nice picture.
Congratulations you "snagged" some big votes.
I used to have some nice, big goldfish, I might try your technique.
That's an awful big splash for a small fish, I'd like to see a series with different colored and sizes of fish. Don't be selfish, maybe you can sell-fish framed prints.
That reminds me of a trip I was on in Budapest, Hungary in 2002.
In a supermarket a large, live fish jumped out of a tank onto the floor.
An employee shouted "suicidal fish", and quickly put it back in the tank. I didn't have a camera at that moment.
Jorge,
What a great shot! Again, I'm amazed at how rapidly you have improved. Everything about this is incredible. From the concept to the composition to the complementary colors. You are an artistic genius in my eyes. Keep up the great work.
Congrats !!! This really jumps out at ya :) I like that you think outside the box ! Maybe I should say outside the bowl.
I would love details on how you did the fish part. GREAT photo !
Such a great picture, like all of your pictures are... Good average you have, WOW.... You really have a good eye for photography...
Congratulation on you really HIGH score and the ribbon... well done in every way :o)Looking forward to see what you come up with next... ;o)
Great score and wow...how the heck did you do it??? It's a great shot and will need you to give some insight into how it happened, the health of the fishy and how wet you got in the process...great result and congrats on the ribbon
Cool creative shot. Looking forward to seeing how this was done. One of my two top rated picks for this challenge. Giving you an 8 right now - but I expect to be back later.
Back again - bumping up. This is my top choice for the challenge. Graet job.
Great job with the whole set, lighting, composition, etc. Remembering seeing a similar shot once before and like this one a lot more. Very well done. The fish may be a printout? if so you've made it look very real and the whole splash is awesome. 10
wonderful shot, look forward to details of your execution. The blue pebbles at the bottom of the bowl really work well with the orange fish at the top of frame.
Real clever shot and I have no idea how you did it, other than making the poor fishy jump! Good stopped motion and composition. White background is effective.
Nico, is that you? You know, the Light On White II challenge? If not nico take it as a compliment. ;^)
This should make the front page. Fun, clever, meets the challenge, clean, etc... There might be a slight blur to the water coming out of the bowl, but it's very slight. On my monitor I'm also seeing where there was some levels/curves applied maybe to blend the background? Could be this crappy monitor... Anyway, congrats on a well conceived idea, and execution thereof, for this challenge.
My 12 year old is standing here and his reaction was "how did they get that fish to do that?"
My reaction too! Nice work on baffling everyone at that Havens house!
Love this. My monitor shows a little line around the right side of the bowl where you missed dodging - hope you left comments on how you did this. Would love to try it myself one of these years.
looks very convincing, that I actually wondered how this is set up.
Very good work, and I like the bright light and overall clean appearance of this amazing shot.
Wow. This has got to be top3 (Which is a shame as my effort will now not ribbon (IMO) as I have seen at least two other contenders for top 3. This should blue or red.
I love the humor in this shot. The plain white background really brings out the color of the fish, and the blue stones give a nice soft bluish reflection in the water, which is very subtle, but still noticable. The splash and movement of the water is near genius. Can't wait to see your comments once you get a ribbon on this one so I can learn how you did it! Gave ya a 10. "Great Job" from the "Great Job Baggie"!
excellent, albeit a little upsetting for the poor fish! hope he's okay! still a great shot, lovely bold bright colours, nicely dramatic and intriguingly well accomplished. 9.
OMG the things we do for a good picture... LOL, this is actually a great picture. Could even be better if the contrast btwn the subject and background would be more??? But, very good :o)
This one is really nice, clear and sharp and the colors are gorgeous together; and the centering really works. If I could vote, I'd give this a well-deserved 10!
cool - hope the little guy made it back into the bowl!! I really like the bright blue and orange against the white ~ and the splash stands out nicely. Great shot - 10
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you've used a photograph of a goldfish rather than the real thing - someone else did something similar a while back. If so, I hope you took the photograph of the goldfish yourself, or asked permission to use it, otherwise it's bordering on an abuse of someone else's copyrighted material. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and a 9 for the terrific execution of this image.
I very much hope that this is a fake fish and if it's not I sincerely hope that this fish wasn't injured doing this. Even if you did go through the trouble of making sure he was ok when shooting this take after take. I think it's very irresponsible to post something like this here, because you know that the lack or originality and creativity of many of the members will lead them to do similar shots where the subject may not be as lucky. Nice photo, but poor ethical decision. I would like to see future challenge rules implemented where shots like this that involve the "torture" of living subjects be immedetly DQ'd
Well here you have it, my pick for the blue in this challenge. This is an amazing shot that I could only dream of capturing, amazing detail throughout make this a winner in my book. Lighting is perfect and I just can't stop looking at it. BRAVO! A well deserved 10 from this voter.
