This was a hard one. Drilled a hole in the bullet, drilled 2 holes in the light bulb with a diamond tip bit. Strung the bulb and the bullet with a black thread between 2 chairs. Had my girl slide the bullet into the bulb to shatter it and hope I get lucky well I kinda did. I tried 8 times and this is the best I got.

Opened RAW in Capture NX, set black point, opened into photoshop, Brightness & Contrast, burned out the string on the black and burned the foreground, burned part of the glass shard above the bullet, USM, created second layer, Neat Image, then erased around the bullet so it was sharper, Cloned out parts of the string in the bulb and cloned out 2 hot spots from the lights in the bulb, rotate a little, crop, re-size and save for the web.

this is such a great capture if there was anything to change about it would be to try this shoot (no pun intended) in a differnt location where things will not be reflecting in the glass

i could almost accept this shot, except for all the reflections that are screaming 'dining room'...and we all know there's only one person on this site who would even consider firing a loaded gun in his dining room...

all the same, nice take on the challenge, good luck!

Took a minute to figure this out. I know, I didn't look at the title. Interesting the way the broken glass has moved. Fun to look at. Must be nice to have the equipment to do this. ;^) Good luck in the challenge.

Great capture! The reflections in the bulb make me wonder about how you did this (in a good way).

"Great Job" from the "Great Job Baggie"! Makes me wonder what kid of studio you have that you are firing shots in there! LOL. Anyway, a great stopped motion shot, executed with precision. I like the fact that most of the bulb is yet intact, and you can tell the bullet hasn't done it's full damage yet, but has only just tapped the outer edge of the glass at this point. I love the tiny tiny shards that are in this. The only distraction are some of the room reflections in the bulb, but then again, maybe it gives it some elements of interest. Anyway, I gave you a 7 originally, upping it to an 8, because you just deserve it!

This is cool of course, even if staged. Only thing that kind of detracts is the reflection of your chandelier and furniture in the bulb.

I can't tell if this is real or staged. The reflections in the glass gives the impression that it might be the latter but it wouldn't surprise me if someone would fire off a 9mm in their own living room. :P
