Very clever title. The image could be improved, I think, with a little more light. Not much, just a little more. Maybe coming from one side. It lends it's self to black and white well. Good choice.

Cool idea!! This should be part of the 'addicted' thread (....when you're lying on you're floors taking photos!) ...been there myself. The centeredness and composition are good for this photo. Only thing, I would like it to be a tad bit lighter (perhaps adjusting the gamma just a smidge). Oh yeah - definately texture. Great job - 8

interesting composition, a little too gray; texture of rug plays in nicely

Good focus, but overall on the dark side. More contrast might have also brought out more detail in the bindings and increase the "interest" in this shot. 6 Swash

I just love the textures and tones of this shot, and I really just love the subject itself. One of my favorite photos this week. 9.

I think I'd like this better in color...I think of rattan (furniture) as "warm" and comfy; going to grayscale makes it feel "colder" and almost metallic, somewhat de-emphasizing the (rougher) textures.

Total Score6

For those that are just learning, like me.

Composition: Scoring in this area is based on basic composition of a picture and includes the rule of thirds, balance, cropping, and curved and diagonal lines. Subject matter that does not lend itself to the picture or otherwise unwanted is also considered here.

Originality: Scoring in this area is based on pictures or concepts that I have seen, as well as how much effort you have invested in the picture. Usually a little something that sets it aside from a snapshot. Does it make me want to come back for another look? You know things like that.

Technical Aspects: Focus, exposure, lighting, and other special effects (done by the camera), and post processing are all considered in this category.

Meets Challenge: This is based on my interpretation of if you, have/have not, met the challenge. This is fairly simple but quite important for this site.

There are many sites that can give you assistance in achieving better skills in photography, but I think the best way to learn is to take pictures and show them to other people. Believe me when it is a good one you will know it.

Good luck!

Need more lightning for contrast

The composition seems a little static to me. Also, it's somewhat dull.

Love it, great b&w shot, beautiful exposure!

too centered

I like the way this is framed, but did you try placing the knot thing further to the left or right. Nothing major, just an idea. I like this in BW. karmat

Have no idea what this is:) Am a little bothered that the top part of the object(s) is so dead center.
